With most of my “works” on this website you find a box with the title “Software Toolbox”. In this box there is a list of all Free Software I used during the work at that project, with a link to the homepage of the respective software.
What is Free Software?
All programs presented in the Software Toolbox are available without fee (“Freeware”). But this meaning of the word “free” (like in “free beer”) is not what makes software Free Software. The true freedom that Free Software brings consists of the facts that everyone can freely use it, share it, view and learn from its source code, enhance it and distribute works that are based on it—the sole limitation is that the derived works have to be put under a license that grants the same freedoms.
Why Free Software?
Free Software brings heaps of advantages to users as well as developers and I don’t want to repeat them just another time – you can find lots of related information on the web, just search for the term “Free Software”.
