ubuntunion2 – An even more modern theme for the Gnome desktop
ubuntunion2 is a modern, simple and elegant theme for the Gnome desktop. It’s the “successor” of the theme Ubuntunion I had developed before. Although originally developed for Ubuntu (that’s where the name comes from), it should work on every recent Gnome desktop.
The Theme
As with Ubuntunion, the idea behind ubuntunion2 is to view a window as a unity in which elements like title bar, menu bar and toolbar melt with the other window contents and are all framed by a colourful border.
In contrast to Ubuntunion, the colours are customizable now, the background isn’t completely white by default and the frame isn’t as obtrusive as before. Inside the window, there a now no lines between title bar, menu bar, toolbar and contents any more, which makes the window look more like a union. The general impression should now be more soft and elegant.
For the window contents, no self-mande GTK theme is used any more but a slight variation of the Glossy variant of the default Clearlooks theme, which ensures that the theme is compatible which as many applications as possible.

Information for Compiz users
To prevent borders of inactive windows from having an ugly transparency, you need to open the configuration editor
(Press Alt+F2, enter gconf-editor
and click OK) and there set the value of apps › gwd › metacity_theme_opacity to 1 (or 0.9 for a slight, subtle level of transparency).
